Hello family! Happy Easter to all. Did you eat Tarta de pescado? no!? haha.
People love their pascua here, it includes eating fish, sleeping, being with the family, and eating a dessert called rosca de pascua, but nothing has to do with Jesus… However I thoroughly enjoyed being able to talk to people openly about Jesus Christ and how important He is to us. In our zone conference this week Hermana Rogers and Presidente talked about how the atonement can apply to us as missionaries. We watched the video Gracias a El (https://www.lds.org/youth/video/because-of-him?lang=eng) which really hit home for me. How amongst all of these huge things that have happened in the world, WWII, the invention of the airplane, things that we always think CHANGED the world, nothing changed the world more than Jesus Christ. It made me think if there is anything good I could do in the world, it would be that people can reap the blessings of the atonement and payback their Savior by having faith in him, repenting, being baptized, receive the gift of holy ghost, and enduring to the end! That is all he asks of us, after doing EVERYTHING for us. Another thing that Hermana Rogers helped me understand is that like Jesus Christ, I was preordained for a certain plan including serving a mission in Argetina. Like Jesus Christ, I have to do hard things and things that are against my will or personal desire but if we hold true to Jesus Christ we will be able to overcome these challenges too! The atonement is everything.
Good news this week! Nahir, our unconventional investigator, accepted a baptismal date! I say unconventional because she works all the time. She’s a hairdresser and we just have to follow the spirit and pass by when we think there aren’t any customers. It’s super hard to teach her and help her progress but she has the desire to be a better follower of Christ and was able to come church this week. We’re trying to find ways to help her confront her doubts and rely on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Prayers for Nahir please!
It’s was below zero this week and it’s only autumn…. but it’s all good! I’m very happy and already super pasty white! I love you all so much and hope you all have a wonderful week. Share your testimony of our savior this week.
Love always Hermana Carter
